  1. I just recently bought a copy of Sierra On-Line's "Homeword" word I just
  2. recently bought a copy of Sierra On-Line's "Homeword" word processor for
  3. my kids.  They just can't master DisplayWrite yet.  It is a nice for the
  4. price program.  BUT, wouldn't you know, it's protected, with no
  5. provision for backup other th an $15 and "we'll mail a new disk".  Fat
  6. chance!  There is no way the kids won't destroy the disk.  So, to
  7. unprotect Homeword, first format a new system disk, then copy all the
  8. Homeword files to it.

  10.          Next, rename the Homeword program file HWCOMP.EXE to HWCOMP.TMP.
  11.          With Dos in drive A: and the new Homeword Disk in drive B: enter
  12.                    debug b:hwcomp.tmp (CR)
  13.                    e cs:59f eb 05 (CR)
  14.                    w (CR)
  15.                    q (CR)
  16.          Now, rename HWCOMP.TMP to HWCOMP.EXE
  17.          That should do it.  At least it worked for me on version 1.0
